OCU looking for how not to let UOC chaplains into the army despite the law

The spokesperson for the OCU Ivan (Eustratiy) Zoria said that the exclusion of the norms that discriminate against the UOC from the chaplaincy law is not at all a reason to allow the priests of the canonical Church to take care of the Ukrainian military. The issue of not allowing the clergy of the UOC to join the army is "regulated" by another law – No. 2662, he wrote on his Facebook page.

This is an anti-church law that defines the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a religious organization with a leading centre in the “aggressor country”.

And besides the reference to the scandalous law, the spokesperson of the schismatics hinted at the threat of aggression against the UOC by the “activists”.

“We should expect attempts by the MP (UOC – Ed.) in preparation for the entry into force of the Law on SMC (on chaplaincy – Ed.) (from July 1, 2022) to ignore the provisions of Law No. 2662 and come to the Ukrainian army,” Zorya wrote. "I am sure that with every such attempt, the military, veterans and the public will remind them of this."

As the UOJ reported, on November 30, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on military chaplaincy, excluding norms that discriminate against the UOC. Nevertheless, the legal department of the UOC suggested that surprises could be expected from the enemies of the Church.
