Israel Strikes Iran - What's Next?
Elder Theodoros and Metropolitan Neophytos
TEHRAN — On Thursday night, the State of Israel launched a series of strikes upon Iranian military targets.
The strikes' primary targets were Iran’s nuclear research facilities. Military bases and the homes of senior Iranian officials were also attacked. Several residential buildings in Tehran were hit as well.
According to Iranian state media, the key uranium enrichment facility in Natanz “has been hit several times."
Among the first confirmed casualties was Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Addressing the Israeli people, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “We are defending the free world from the terrorism and barbarism that Iran fosters and exports across the globe. Many around the world—even if they won’t say so openly—know in their hearts: thanks to your determination and courage, citizens of Israel, and thanks to the bravery of Israel’s fighters, the world will be a safer place.”
Netanyahu said that the strikes may continue for “days,” if that is what is required for Israel to achieve its strategic goals.
Addressing the Iranian people, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said: "The Zionist regime carried out with its evil and bloody hand a crime in our dear country and revealed its wicked nature further by hitting residential areas. The regime should await a harsh response.”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement denying American involvement. “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region," Rubio said.
Many Orthodox Christians are recalling a prophecy issued by a great modern geronda, Elder Theodoros Agiofarangitis of Crete, who reposed in 2016. Elder Theodoros predicted:
You will be drinking your coffee and you will hear that the Jews [i.e., Israel] attacked the nuclear program of Persia [i.e., Iran]. That’s when events of greater magnitude will begin. At the same time, or a little earlier, Erdogan will fall. These will be the signs of the big events to come, so you understand that they are near, at the door.”
Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou has made a similar prediction:
That will be terribly destructive and in the end lead to World War. This started as we said in Syria, Ukraine, and Israel. After the Jews [i.e., Israel] strike against Persia [i.e., Iran]'s nuclear program, then both China and Russia will be forced to react. The prophecies of the saints say this. And note, not only the Greek saints. The Russian, Romanian, Serbian saints say this. They say that countries will use nuclear weapons. Do you know what the amazing thing is? Putin and China don't want that. The New World Order wants it very, very, very, very much. They push them to do this.
