UOC spokesman: Met. Onuphry has no other passports but Ukrainian
KYIV — On July 2, 2025, Metropolitan Clement, head of the UOC’s Information and Education Department, refuted the SBU’s statement about His Beatitude Onuphry allegedly having Russian citizenship.
“Metropolitan Onuphry has no other passports but the Ukrainian one,” he told the Strana outlet.
According to the hierarch, the Primate of the UOC has never applied to any other state – including Russia – for citizenship.
He stressed that Metropolitan Onuphry would defend his rights as a citizen of Ukraine and that he has the right to challenge Zelensky’s citizenship revocation decree in court.
UOJ-America previously reported that Zelensky issued a decree revoking Metropolitan Onuphry’s citizenship.
