DENVER — His Eminence Metropolitan Constantine of Denver recently issued a pastoral message to the faithful of the Metropolis of Denver, the largest geographic Metropolis in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, in response to the severe flooding and loss of life in Texas.
As central Texas falls in Metropolitan Constantine’s jurisdiction, he announced the beginnings of relief efforts to help those affected, as the total death toll has surpassed 100 and at least 160 are missing.
His Eminence’s letter is published in full below.
Lord of the powers, be with us. For in times of distress we have no other help but You.
Lord of the powers, have mercy on us!

Beloved and Devout Faithful of the Sacred Metropolis of Denver,
The devastation that has taken place at Camp Mystic, along with many other souls along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas, is shocking and tragic. The difficulty in imagining such a natural tragedy is unimaginable.
Camp Mystic has been used by several of our faithful in that region. It is a very familiar Christian Camp that has hosted many camps, retreats, and other gatherings for young people for scouting and camping programs.
Houses along the Guadalupe River are lost and the process of recovery is well underway.
The insurmountable task for this region is daunting, and the first responders, family members, and all involved are doing their absolute best in this situation.
In conjunction with neighboring parishes and local entities from the impacted communities, you are invited to support these efforts of healing. I am asking you and your parishes to either pass a tray, offer a special collection, bake sale - whatever can be done to raise funds to help with basic and immediate expenses, including: sustaining the first responders, funeral expenses and more.
We will also be working in communication with the International Orthodox Christian Charities. The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Denver is a part of the greater community throughout this region and will respond prayerfully with support and the Love of God.
Kindly send your donations to the Metropolis of Denver, with a notation in the Memo Line to Hill Country Relief by August 1, 2025. The Metropolis response team is identifying trusted entities at work in the impacted areas and all funds collected will directly support relief efforts.
I thank you in advance for your prayers, your support, and your love.
With Paternal Blessings in our Lord,
+ Metropolitan Constantine of Denver
