AFU medic to Zelensky: You took citizenship from His Beatitude – take mine too
KYIV — Combat medic of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, war veteran, and volunteer Larisa Brodetska (Zburlyuk) has addressed Volodymyr Zelensky in response to the revocation of citizenship of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry. She announced that she is returning all the state awards she received during Zelensky’s presidency. Her video message was published by the Telegram channel “We are with His Beatitude Onuphry,” created in support of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
“Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, you have stripped Metropolitan Onuphry of his citizenship—a patriot, through whose prayers Ukraine still stands, through whose prayers these soldiers are still holding the front and remain alive,” she said.
The combat medic emphasized her full support for the Primate of the UOC.
“You also stated in your address that all ‘those like Metropolitan Onuphry’ should be stripped of citizenship. Well then: every word ever spoken by Metropolitan Onuphry, every step he has taken, every action—I personally support. Therefore, you should strip me of citizenship as well,” Larisa stated.
She added that, as a sign of “deep condemnation” of Zelensky’s actions, she is returning all the awards and orders she received during his time in office.
“With such actions, you spit in the face of all Ukrainians. And this [the UOC] is the largest religious denomination in Ukraine,” concluded the UOC parishioner.
The UOJ (SPZh) previously reported that Zelensky’s decree revoking the citizenship of the Primate of the UOC has been deemed classified material and will not be released to the public.
