SLOVAKIA — On August 16–17, 2025, the village of Nižná Rybnica will host spiritual celebrations and the 10th annual pilgrimage titled “From Old to New Klokočov.”
The official Facebook page of the Michalovce-Košice Orthodox Eparchy published an invitation to this year’s pilgrimage and eparchial spiritual celebrations, which will be held at the pilgrimage church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Nižná Rybnica.
The festivities are held in honor of the miraculous Klokočov Icon of the Mother of God—a treasured spiritual relic of Eastern Slovakia that has been venerated by Orthodox faithful for centuries. This year’s celebrations will include processions and liturgical services led by His Eminence Archbishop Juraj of Michalovce and Košice, with the participation of clergy and faithful from across the eparchy.
The event is open not only to pilgrims from Slovakia but to all who wish to experience the spiritual tradition and beauty of Eastern Christianity. The presence of the revered icon and the spiritual richness of the gathering promise a profound experience of faith, prayer, and gratitude.
The Orthodox Parish in Nižná Rybnica has also shared a video on its Facebook page from last year’s pilgrimage.
