Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston Camp Wraps Record-Breaking Summer

CONTOOCOOK, N.H. — Celebrating 36 years of ministry, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) welcomed more than 600 campers and 100 volunteer staff members to its summer program in Contoocook, New Hampshire— the camp’s most attended season in over a decade.

In a July 30 press release, the Metropolis reflected “with gratitude, joy, and awe at what God has done in their midst” and glorified God for “the opportunity to serve so many young people in the life of the Church.”

The theme of MBC’s 2025 summer session was “Everyday Saints,” reminding participants that saints were ordinary people: “teachers, students, workers, friends — who chose to live lives of holiness, humility, and courage in Christ.” Campers explored this message daily through prayer, fellowship, and discussion, focusing on how to pursue holiness in both moments of joy and challenge.

The Metropolis praised the camp’s young adult staff, saying the “heart of MBC’s ministry beats with the energy, love, and dedication” of those who “give up their summers not for recognition or reward, but out of a desire to serve Christ and the youth of our Church.”

Many staff members are MBC alumni who return to mentor the next generation. Clergy, healthcare workers, kitchen and maintenance teams, and other volunteers also played vital roles in supporting campers’ wellbeing and spiritual growth.

Each week of camp was also marked by a visit from His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, whose “deep commitment to the spiritual formation of our youth is one of the strongest pillars of MBC.”

In closing their end-of-summer reflection, the Metropolis shared:

“For 36 years, the Metropolis of Boston Camp has offered a place where young people come to encounter Christ, discover lasting friendships, and grow into the leaders of the Church… Camp is not just a memory; it’s a lifelong connection to Christ and to a vibrant faith community that continues to grow... We thank God for another incredible season and look forward to many more summers of laughter, growth, and transformation.”

Previously, UOJ reported that the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco Young Adult League (YAL) is scheduled to host the 2025 YAL Conference over Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 28 – Sept. 1, 2025) at the Seattle Marriott in Bellevue, Washington.
