U.S. Consul General Visits Patriarchate of Constantinople

ISTANBUL — On August 4, 2025, Michael Kidwell, the newly appointed head of the U.S. Consulate General in Constantinople, made an official visit to the Patriarchate of Constantinople at the Phanar.

Patriarch Bartholomew warmly welcomed Kidwell, and they discussed the mission and activities of the Church of Constantinople, the local Greek Orthodox community, and the Patriarch’s upcoming trip to the United States planned for September.

The meeting included Ms. Amanda Suarez from the U.S. Consulate General and Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.

Before the meeting, Grand Archimandrite Iakovos guided Mr. Kidwell on a tour of the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George.
