RIVERSIDE, CA — The first volume of St. Photios the Great's "Amphilochia" is now available for purchase in both paperback and hardcover form from Patristic Nectar.

Translated by Orthodox scholar Dr. Tikhon Alexander Pino, this publication will provide a better understanding of the teachings of the Fathers from one of Orthodoxy's most notable saints — a man who was central to the refutation of the Filioque heresy and provided a steady, Orthodox voice in the period leading up to the schism between East and West.

From Patristic Nectar's website:

Amphilochia: Volume 1 is the first installment of St. Photios the Great’s monumental theological and philosophical work, presented here in an English translation by Dr. Tikhon Alexander Pino.

Written in the ninth century, the Amphilochia is a wide-ranging collection of answers to questions posed by Amphilochius, Bishop of Cyzicus, covering topics of theology, philosophy, scripture, grammar, and culture. Saint Photios, revered as one of the most brilliant minds in Christian history, demonstrates profound learning and pastoral clarity as he engages with the pressing issues of his time.

This first volume opens a treasury of Orthodox thought, offering readers access to the wisdom of a saint who shaped the intellectual and spiritual life of Byzantium. Scholars, clergy, and faithful alike will find in these pages both the rigor of careful reasoning and the beauty of a mind fully illumined by the faith of the Church.

Previously, UOJ reported that Patristic Nectar Publications announced that a new book on the life of Saint Cleopa is available for purchase.
