HEBRON — On August 21, volunteers from Hebron province and other regions of Palestine joined residents of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission’s metochion dedicated to the Holy Forefathers to clean the grounds after an arson attack caused fire damage.
The Mission expressed gratitude to all who took part, noting the effort fosters friendship with the local community and helps preserve interfaith peace and harmony.
Clergy and monastics of the Russian Church in the Holy Land extended special thanks to Dr. Ramzi Khoury, Chairman of the Higher Presidential Committee of Palestine for Church Affairs, and Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin for their support and attention.
The joint initiative of volunteers and Hebron authorities, the Mission emphasized, demonstrates that ties of friendship between peoples are stronger than division and provide the best answer to those seeking to sow hatred and discord.
Previously, UOJ reported that a fire, believed to be caused by arson, broke out on the territory of the embassy church of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in honor of the Holy Forefathers in Hebron, where the oak tree revered as the site of the biblical hospitality of Patriarch Abraham is located.
