Polls Show Rising Pro-Life Sentiment in U.S.

Public opinion on abortion in America is shifting, according to new polling data. Gallup’s annual survey released in June found that 43% of Americans now identify as pro-life — a two-point increase from last year. The poll also recorded a rise in the number of respondents who believe abortion is “morally wrong” and who support limiting its legality.

A separate July survey of 1,400 adults showed a seven-point increase since 2024 in the share of Americans who say abortion should be illegal in “all” or “most” cases. Support for abortion under various circumstances declined, with the steepest drop — five percentage points — among those who back abortion “if the woman does not want to be pregnant for any reason.”

While a majority of Americans still support legal access to abortion in some form, the latest findings mark a steady gain for the pro-life movement, which sees the results as both encouraging progress and a call to continue shifting cultural attitudes through education, advocacy, and support for women in crisis.
