Bsp. Irinej Celebrates Names Day, Ordains Dcn. Vladan Makanjić to Priesthood

ZEMUN PARK — On September 5, 2025, Bsp. Irinej (Dobrijević) of Washington-New York and Eastern America marked his Names Day during a celebration at the Holy Archangel Gabriel Monastery Church in Zemun Park, Serbia. The event, held on the feast of St. Irenaeus of Lyon, was conducted with the blessings of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije.
During the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Bsp. Irinej ordained Dcn. Vladan Makanjić to the Holy Priesthood for the Diocese of Eastern America.
Bsp. Irinej, who previously served as a Hieromonk and Secretary and Consultant of the Holy Synod of Bishops on Inter-Church, Interfaith, and International Affairs under the late Patriarch Pavle, was assigned to his role during the tenure of the late Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Dr. Radovan Bigović.
Currently, Fr. Vladan, now joined by his wife, Popadija Danijela, serves in the Diocese of Žiča with the blessings of Bishop Irinej and His Eminence Metropolitan Justin of Žiča. The couple provides religious education and spiritual guidance to children with special needs.
