SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Saturday evening, His Eminence Met. Maximos of Selyvria presided over Vespers at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons.
His Holiness Pat. Bartholomew of Constantinople and His Eminence Abp. Elpidophoros were prayerfully present in the Holy Altar, along with many other bishops. Seminarians from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology were among those chanting.
Fr. Alex Karloutsos, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, serves as parish priest at the church along with fellow Protopresbyter Fr. Constantine Lazarakis. The Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to Fr. Alex by former President Joe Biden hangs in the hallway to the left of the narthex.
Following the service, a reception and banquet was held in honor of Pat. Bartholomew. He is scheduled to preside over liturgy Sunday morning at the church.
Previously, UOJ reported that Pat. Bartholomew of Constantinople held a patriarchal audience and blessing with the Young Adult Leaders (YAL) of New York and New Jersey at the St. Nicholas National Shrine.
