ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — On Friday, Oct. 17, Met. Saba warmly received Archimandrite Melchisedec, abbot of Holy Putna Monastery in Romania, and Archimandrite Jeremiah, abbot of St. Dumitru Romanian Orthodox Monastery in Middletown, N.Y., at the Antiochian Archdiocese Headquarters.
According to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, the visit took place ahead of feast day celebrations at St. Dumitru Monastery. Met. Saba and Archimandrite Melchisedec, friends for more than 20 years, shared photographs from the abbot’s 2005 visit to Sayidna Saba in the Archdiocese of Bosra and Hauran, Syria.
During the meeting, they enjoyed lunch together and exchanged icons and handmade gifts. The abbots invited Met. Saba to visit their monasteries, while His Eminence requested their prayers for future monastic vocations and initiatives within the Archdiocese.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Romanian Monastery of St. Dumitru the New joyfully celebrated its annual patronal feast on Sunday, Oct. 19.
