Monastery Seeks $350,000 for Storm Damage Restoration

OCALA, FL — The Annunciation of the Theotokos Monastery has launched a critical restoration project following severe damage from recent hurricanes and storms. The church and residence/workshop buildings suffered extensive wind and water harm, affecting roofs, siding, walls, flooring, and HVAC systems, leading to persistent water intrusion.
The initiative is divided into two phases.
Phase One prioritizes urgent repairs to halt further deterioration, ensuring continued church services and workshop operations vital for income.
Phase Two will address deferred maintenance on the guest house, storage, grounds, infrastructure, and equipment, resolving long-standing issues since the monastery's founding.
With $150,000 from insurance and internal funds, work begins in December 2025. However, a $350,000 shortfall threatens completion of Phase One and Phase Two in 2026.
Gerondissa Agapia and her sisters appeal for donations: online via credit/debit/ACH through their website. They also accept mailed checks, or tax-advantaged securities.
"We humbly ask for your support to preserve our beloved monastery," the nuns stated.
Last week, the UOJ reported that Holy Cross Hellenic College received a grant from the Lilly Foundation worth more than $7 million.
