Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, on the initiative of the head of the parliamentary committee on the health of the nation, Mikhail Radutsky, want to legalize surrogate motherhood and the sale of surrogate mother services to foreigners in Ukraine, the “Politika Strany” Telegram channel reports.
The draft law "On the use of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and surrogate motherhood" has already been submitted to the Rada. In the explanatory note, the authors state that in Ukraine the frequency of female infertility is 60%, male – 40%. They see the use of surrogate motherhood as the only solution to the problem.
The authors argue that the law will protect the rights and legitimate interests of Ukrainian citizens and foreigners in the field of ART. They emphasize that Ukraine is one of the few countries where foreigners can use the commercial services of surrogate mothers since the legislation does not prohibit this.
The deputies propose that specialized medical institutions be given the opportunity to independently conclude contracts with foreign individuals and legal entities.
As previously reported, a series of programmes “Who are we?” was launched on the Zorianyi TV channel. about the problems of demography in Ukraine. One of its participants suggested promoting the trend of a large family.
