St. Vladimir’s and Fordham to Honor Fr. John Meyendorff’s Centenary

YONKERS, NY — St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University will jointly host a two-day commemoration on February 6–7 honoring the 100th birthday of Fr. John Meyendorff (1926–1992), one of the most influential Orthodox theologians of the twentieth century. The event will take place in person and online and will celebrate Meyendorff’s enduring legacy in Orthodox theology, Byzantine studies, and ecumenical dialogue.
On Friday evening, February 6, a memorial service will be held in the seminary chapel, followed by reflections from Bp. Irinej of Eastern America, Dr. Vera Shevzov of Smith College, and Dr. Paul Meyendorff of St. Vladimir’s Seminary. A public reception will follow.
On Saturday, February 7, Fordham University will host an academic symposium examining Orthodoxy, Byzantium, and the rise of Russia, featuring scholars from leading theological and academic institutions.
