On February 5, 2022, the “synod” of the UOC-KP threatened with “canonical decisions” in response to the statement of the “holy synod” of the OCU, which on February 2 banned the “hierarchs” of the UOC-KP from priesthood and threatened them with deprivation of “holy dignity”, the website of the UOC-KP reports.

“Regarding the attempt to imposed bans on the hierarchs of the UOC-KP, we remind you that the above-mentioned hierarchs are bishope of the Kyiv Patriarchate and therefore cannot be subject to judgment by another Church. Any prohibitions against them, as well as other bishops of the UOC-KP, do not have legal canonical force,” the official statement of the UOC-KP says.

“In the event of persistent interference by the leadership of the OCU in the affairs of the UOC-KP, which is not subordinate to the OCU, we reserve the right to consider its actions in a conciliar way and make canonical decisions,” the UOC-KP said, advising the OCU "to be guided by the spirit of peace and love, rather than by threats and blackmail.”

As previously reported by the UOJ, the OCU banned the “hierarchs” of the UOC-KP from priesthood.
