Phanar hierarch in Australia: We are rightly proud of our Greek nation

The head of the Australian Archdiocese of Phanar, Archbishop Macarios, said that he is rightfully proud of his Greek nation, reports the Greek resource "Romfea".
According to the hierarch of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, "the Greek language has been the life-giving force of Hellenism throughout history and at the same time a suitable means for spreading the Christian teaching in the world".
He also stated that "as Greeks, we are rightly proud that the tree of our nation is tall and majestic, with thick and beautiful foliage and rich fruit".
This, in his opinion, "is connected with the greatness of the Greek language, which has been spoken continuously for more than four thousand years," which "impregnated European and world civilization" and left a "strong imprint" in the field of science, "of which we can all be convinced during the current pandemic and the ubiquitous use of terms of Greek origin to describe it”.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Archbishop Macarios, Filaret was not allowed to head the Russian Orthodox Church because he was Ukrainian.
