RICHMOND, TEXAS — Metr. Saba continued his archpastoral tour of the greater Houston area with parish visits, services, and preaching focused on humility, spiritual fatherhood, and lived faith.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, Metr. Saba visited St. Thekla Church in Richmond, where he was welcomed by Fr. Joseph Hazar and the faithful. The hierarch presided at Orthros and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, served with clergy and assisted by a newly formed Byzantine choir. In his homily on the Publican and the Pharisee, he emphasized self-knowledge and repentance as the foundation of spiritual life.

Later that evening, Metr. Saba led Great Vespers and Litia-Artoklasia at St. George Church in Houston for the feast of the Meeting of the Lord.

The previous evening, he visited St. Paul Church in Katy for its patronal feast. Addressing catechumens, he warned against a purely intellectual approach to Orthodoxy, stressing that the faith is lived through ascetic struggle, community, and encounter with Christ.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba celebrated the Feast of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Houston.
