Abp. Mark Leads Philadelphia-Eastern PA Assembly

OLD FORGE, PA — The 62nd Annual Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania was held January 29-30, 2026, at St. Michael’s Church in Old Forge, with His Eminence Abp. Mark presiding. Clergy, delegates, and observers gathered for prayer, liturgical services, and diocesan business.

The assembly opened with a Hierarchical Address by Abp. Mark, who reflected on authentic Christian living, parish growth, clergy care, stewardship, and diocesan administration. He highlighted the success of parishes investing in catechesis, Church School, and fellowship, and reaffirmed the importance of parish tithing and youth ministry. Attendees celebrated Great Vespers, a Memorial Litya for departed clergy and faithful, and milestones in the ordinations of Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki and Protodeacon Peter Skoog.

Guest speaker Archpriest John Parker, Dean of St. Tikhon’s Seminary, emphasized parish outreach, welcoming newcomers, and fostering lasting community participation. The assembly included Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, administrative reports, and adoption of the 2026 budget. The 63rd Annual Assembly is scheduled for January 2027 in Harrisburg, PA.
