On February 24, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia called for an end to military action in Ukraine. He wrote this on his Twitter.
"The military action in Ukraine must be stopped as soon as possible, otherwise it will turn into a global tragedy," he said.
The website of the Georgian Patriarchate published an address by the Catholicos-Patriarch on the need to maintain peace.
"Based on Georgia's bitter experience, we know how important the territorial integrity of the country is. That is why we have been watching the tense situation regarding Ukraine with great pain in our hearts. It should be noted that the events that took place yesterday and today already pose a serious threat of bloodshed, but there is still an opportunity to resolve the situation. It is also an opportunity to maintain world peace. We ask the Holy Trinity to grant peace to the people of Ukraine and to the whole world. May God of peace be with everyone, Amen,” the document says.
As reported, the Primate of the UOC called on Putin to end the war.
