KYIV — Orthodox faithful gathered in large numbers at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on March 8 to celebrate the feast of the Synaxis of all the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves. The Divine Liturgy was led by Metr. Onuphry of Kyiv, primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

The service took place at the church dedicated to Venerable Agapitus of the Kyiv Caves, where a large congregation filled the temple for the feast. During the liturgy, special petitions were offered for peace in Ukraine, reflecting the Church’s ongoing prayers for stability and reconciliation in the country.

During the celebration, Metr. Onuphry also recognized several monastics of the Lavra with ecclesiastical awards for their service. In addition, he ordained Dn. Konstantin Kovalyuk, a graduate student of the Kyiv Theological Academy, to the priesthood. Church representatives noted that the Lavra continues to grow in clergy, monastics, and faithful despite difficult circumstances.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Onuphry called for fidelity to the pure Orthodox faith.
