LOMBARD, IL — Parishes of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago delivered more than 61,400 meals on February 15, 2026, during the first-ever Project HOPE Sunday, a coordinated day of Christ-centered service across six states. Hundreds of clergy and lay volunteers from 29 parishes mobilized to assemble and distribute more than 2,300 bags of food and hot meals, with each bag providing 30–45 meals to local shelters and families facing food insecurity.

Project HOPE, launched in 2020 in response to the pandemic, has grown into a cornerstone ministry of the Metropolis, translating faith into concrete acts of service. “Delivering more than 60,000 meals in a single day is just the beginning,” said Yanni Sianis, Chairman of Project HOPE, praising the parishes’ enthusiasm and dedication.

Metr. Nathanael highlighted the spiritual impact: “Our calling is not simply to feed the hungry, but to receive every person with the love God has for them . . . the household of Christ is revealed and strengthened through their presence.”
