HEMPSTEAD, NY — The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul has announced that the handmaiden of God, Carmela Lena Cocivera, has been formally received into the Orthodox Church through Holy Chrismation on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

According to the cathedral, Cocivera had pursued catechism for many years before being received into the Church, marking a significant spiritual milestone reached by God’s grace at a remarkable age.

Clergy and faithful offered prayers for her continued health, invoking the protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and the intercessions of her patron saint, St. Linos, whose feast is celebrated on November 5.
