ELMHURST, IL — The community of St. Demetrios Orthodox Church gathered in joy and thanksgiving as Bp. Dionysios celebrated his first Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, marking a significant and memorable moment in the life of the parish. Faithful from across the area joined in prayer for the occasion, welcoming His Grace with reverence and enthusiasm.

Following the Divine Liturgy, parishioners and visiting hierarchs assembled for a festive luncheon held in the parish gym. The celebration honored Bp. Dionysios and provided an opportunity for fellowship among clergy and laity alike, reflecting the unity and vitality of the Church community.

The event was made possible through the efforts of the Parish Council, Philoptochos, volunteers, kitchen staff, donors, youth, and altar servers, all of whom contributed to the sacredness of the occasion.

Previously, the UOJ reported that GOARCH set its 2026 Clergy-Laity Congress for Cleveland.
