Primate of the UOC: Nothing can justify murder
In his homily delivered on the Sunday of Mary of Egypt, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry said that the fullness of the Church offers prayers to God to grant peace.
“The Church prays that the Lord would shut those lie-speaking lips and stop with His grace this murder of one human by another human, because murder cannot be justified by anything. We pray that there will be peace and tranquility on our land and worldwide, because though we believe that different countries are independent of each other, only a saint man is truly independent, while sinners are all dependent on each other and must reckon with each other,” noted His Beatitude Vladyka.
Metropolitan Onuphry drew the attention of believers to the fact that the world is arranged so that if someone does not reckon with their neighbor, then no one considers him/her, and it is difficult for such a person to live.
“Therefore, we must respect each other, honor, help. For this – mutual love, help and respect – the Lord created us. He wants to see it in each of us,” said the Primate of the UOC.
His Beatitude recalled that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church helps everyone who suffered from the war – refugees, the homeless, orphans, sick people.
“As much as the Lord helps us, we help these people so that they survive these fears and these calamities of warfare, and so that we all receive mercy from God together,” summed up Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Primate of the UOC called on the faithful to pray to God to send down the good news about peace.
