UOC hierarch urges to treat Taksiur fairly: He is a good Christian

The bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnytsia and Bar, made an appeal in which he called for a fair decision on the Orthodox journalist Yan Taksiur. A video of the appeal was published on the “1 Kozak” YouTube channel.

"I know him as a good and kind man, a wonderful Christian. More than once we have met, and communicated both in programmes and at services, we met in the temple. He has been kept in one of the pre-trial detention centres since 10 March. Unfortunately, his relatives and lawyers are not allowed to see him. I appeal to those in authority to treat his fate fairly and make a decision in accordance with the law of Ukraine and the morality of our society," said Bishop Varsonofy.

As reported, a court hearing on the case of Orthodox journalist and publicist, host of the “1 Kozak” channel Yan Taksiur, is held on 4 May.
