Patriarch Bartholomew: Our job is to build bridges between different faiths

Speaking at the Forum for the Promotion of Common Values among Followers of Religions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople said that the task of Phanar is to build bridges between different faiths, the official website of the Patriarchate of Constantinople reports.

In his speech, Patriarch Bartholomew noted that he speaks "on behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which is dedicated to dialogue and rapprochement, building bridges between different faiths, cultures and peoples, between humanity and the environment."

According to him, Phanar “initiated an interfaith dialogue between the three monotheistic religions and cultivated other interreligious projects. We continue these efforts with sincerity and confidence.”

“Given the huge modern challenges, the most appropriate way to peace and reconciliation is sincere interreligious dialogue and mutual respect,” said the head of the Church of Constantinople.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that on November 1, 2021, while on a visit to the United States, Patriarch Bartholomew announced the start of a dialogue with Jews and Muslims.
