Fanar bishop: Church of Alexandria received a “war” from ROC because of OCU

On October 9, 2022, the head of the Phanariot structure in America, Archbishop Elpidophoros, said that Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, who had recognized the OCU, ended up facing a “war” with the Russian Orthodox Church, the Romfea publication reports.

In the concert hall of the Hilton Hotel in New York, Patriarch Theodore received the Athenagoras Prize. In his congratulatory speech, Archbishop Elpidophoros praised the activities of the award winner, drawing attention to his "support for the Mother Church of Constantinople" and recalled his recognition of the "autocephaly" of the OCU.

“At the same time he received a “war” from the Russian Church, which is trying to encroach on his jurisdiction in Africa,” Elpidophoros emphasized.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to Patriarch Theodore, the Russian Orthodox Church had a long-term dream to invade Africa.
