Kyiv Lavra Abbot meets with Patriarch Theophilos in the Holy Land
The abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl, met with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
During the meeting, which took place on October 11, 2022, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl and the brethren received high church awards from His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine. In turn, Vladyka Pavel handed over valuable gifts from the Kyiv Caves Monastery to the Primate of the Jerusalem Church.
Also, the vicegerent of the Kyiv Caves Lavra performed the night Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ at the Holy Sepulcher. In the Edicule, the Metropolitan prayed fervently for the granting of peace to Ukraine.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl, abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, commented on the news about his “detention” at customs, allegedly while trying to export church valuables from the Lavra abroad.
