Biden says a ban on gender reassignment surgery is wrong
On October 23, 2022, participating in a Our Young People show on the NowThis News channel, Joe Biden expressed his attitude towards transgender transition and called the ban on sex-change operations in some states “wrong”.
The President of the United States spoke with the "young changemakers", according to the host, for more than an hour and touched on the topics of abortion, transgender rights, gun laws and others.
In response to a question from TikTok blogger and trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, who recently came out as a transgender woman, about whether the state should have the right to ban gender-affirming health care “in support of gender identity,” that is, to ban gender reassignment surgery and puberty blockers, Biden responded that it is wrong to ban it.
“I don't think any state or anybody should have the right to do that, as a moral question and as a legal question. I just think it's wrong," he said.
As reported by the UOJ, the Biden administration noted that it was "the battle for the rights of transgender people that is moving to the forefront of the culture war."
