On November 4, 2022, during an ecumenical meeting attended by representatives of different Christian denominations, including Patriarch Bartholomew, Pope Francis declared the need for a "full restoration of unity",  reports vaticannews.va.

According to the Pope, "the diversity of backgrounds and languages should not be seen as a problem but as an advantage", for "we have all been baptised into one body by one Spirit" (1 Cor 12:13).

"Our differences have scarred the holy body of the Lord, but the Holy Spirit, who unites all the members, is much stronger than our fleshly divisions," the pontiff said.

In his view, "there is much more that unites us, and the more zealously we live the spiritual life, the sooner we will restore – with God's help – complete unity among ourselves".

"Being here in Bahrain, as a small flock of Christ, scattered in different places and denominations, we are aware of the need to be united, to profess one faith," the Pope stressed.

As earlier reported, Patriarch Bartholomew said that the Phanar promotes inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue.
