UPDATE: After previous reports that law enforcement had taken a suspect into custody, a spokesman for Utah Valley University stated that police had determined the man was not actually the shooter. At this time, the shooter is still at large.
OREM — Political commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has been shot in the neck at a speaking event at Utah Valley University. The suspect is in custody.
Several videos have been posted online of people running from the event following a shot that rang out, followed by Kirk's head jerking back. Videos taken from closer to the stage show a significant amount of blood pouring from his neck. At this time, it has only been reported that he is in critical condition.
Other videos show the alleged suspect - an elderly white male - in handcuffs on the ground. It has not been confirmed whether or not the individual in the video is the one taken by law enforcement in connection to the shooting.
