Archpastoral visit highlights care, formation, and fellowship during “Support Our Seminarians” month.

CHICAGO — As part of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) Diocese of the Midwest’s (DOM) annual “Support Our Seminarians” initiative, His Eminence Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest made an archpastoral visit to seminarians studying at St. Tikhon’s and St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminaries from Oct. 20–23.

According to a release from the diocese, His Eminence was accompanied by Archpriest Herman Kincaid, diocesan chancellor, and Priest Alexander Koranda, cathedral dean. Abp. Daniel met with students and their families, emphasizing spiritual formation and pastoral well-being.

At St. Tikhon’s, the Archbishop joined seminarians for dinner, held personal meetings with the eight Midwest students, and conferred with Abp. Michael of New York, seminary rector, along with Archpriest John Parker, dean, and Priest Paul Witek, dean of academic affairs. He also offered prayers at the grave of the late Abp. John (Garklavs), former hierarch of Chicago.

On Oct. 22, Abp. Daniel attended the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, where he was welcomed by Dean Dr. Ionut Alexandru Tudorie. The visit concluded with Vespers and dinner with seminarians and their families, marking a week of encouragement and continued support for the diocese’s future clergy.
