Jordanville Monastery to Renovate Pilgrim’s Dining Hall into a ‘Second Church’

Holy Trinity Monastery Calls for Support in Transforming Sacred Fellowship Space

JORDANVILLE, NY – For nearly a century, Holy Trinity Monastery has welcomed Orthodox faithful seeking prayer and fellowship. Now, the monastery is embarking on a long-awaited renovation of its Pilgrim’s Dining Hall.

Currently outdated, poorly lit, and lacking traditional Orthodox beauty, the dining hall fails to reflect the sanctity of its purpose. As the monastery explains, the communal meal after Liturgy is not simply a gathering but a continuation of the Eucharistic service, making the dining hall a true “Second Church.”

To elevate this space to its proper dignity, the monastery plans to commission frescoes, install handcrafted wooden furnishings, and enhance the overall atmosphere to better serve pilgrims.

Bishop Luke of Syracuse emphasized the spiritual significance of this effort:

The support of the faithful is not merely helpful—it is essential. This sacred labor is not for comfort, but for the sake of reverence and order, that pilgrims might find a place fitting for prayer and refreshment of soul. Those who assist in this work share in its spiritual fruits, for what is offered to God is never lost.

The renovation, estimated at $75,000, seeks to provide a place of peace, beauty, and prayerful reflection for all who confess the Orthodox faith.

The monastery is calling upon Orthodox Christians to contribute to this sacred project, ensuring that future generations of pilgrims will find not only nourishment but spiritual renewal within its walls.
