Assembly of Canonical Bishops Continues Commitment to the Sacredness of Life

The Committee for Liturgy makes progress on prayers and services to be used following miscarriages and stillbirths.
JUNE 11, 2025 — In a social media post on Wednesday, the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America shared how it is continuing to fulfill its commitment in the statement entitled “On the Sacredness of Human Life and its Untimely Termination.”
In the statement, the Assembly of Bishops vowed to “continue to provide new rituals and ways to address these circumstances, which include prayers of mourning, compassion, and healing.”
On June 10, during their meeting in Rives Junction, Michigan, the Committee for Liturgy made progress on prayers and services to be used following miscarriages and stillbirths.
On June 2, in response to the increase in legislation related to assisted suicide throughout the country, the Assembly of Bishops put out a statement reaffirming its address from 2022 on the issue.
The statement can be found in its entirety here.
Inspired by that statement, UOJ-America News Editor Aaron Hickman wrote a column last week on physician-assisted suicide and its distortion of a Christian ending to our lives.
