After taking a break from “The Royal Path,” the well-known priest re-enters the digital ministry sphere.

KANSAS CITY, MO — Fr. Turbo Qualls, rector at St. Mary of Egypt Serbian Orthodox Church in Kansas City, Missouri, recently announced a new project entitled “Synaxis of Sophia,” which translates to “Gathering of Wisdom.”

“We’re living in some pretty interesting times, and I realized it’s time to come back,” Fr. Turbo said. “I’m hoping that this is going to be the right time.”

This comes after Fr. Turbo had appeared on 107 episodes of The Royal Path podcast over a roughly three-year span. This new project will take some of the ideas from the previous one and flesh them out even more.

Exclusive content such as catechism and religious education will be shared, and topics such as spiritual warfare and the raising of children will be discussed.

“The Synaxis of Sophia is primarily about having a community, and a community in which we are committed to finding Christ through the pursuit of wisdom,” Fr. Turbo said. “Wisdom is justified by her children, as the Scripture says, so as we share with each other and as, hopefully, God leads, we’ll be able to provide some inspiration.”

There will be weekly discussions and a reflection every Monday night followed by a lengthy Q&A session. There will also be exclusive and deep-dive content once a month, some rotating guests of friends both old and new once a month.

“The hope is that there’s going to be a real active community… letting people know they’re not alone in their desire to have Orthodoxy, to have Christ, uncut, without any pull or filter from the left or right,” Fr. Turbo said.

Rather than ideology, Holy Tradition will be the guide to examining the issues of the day. The hope is that people will be able to recall some principles and thoughts that were shared on episodes of “The Royal Path.”

Content will be coming soon, Fr. Turbo said, and it will be posted on “all the familiar channels.”

“Please share it, get the word out, and together we’re going to find the way forward,” he concluded.

Fr. Turbo's personal channel and homilies can also be found online, and for more information about the Synaxis of Sophia project or to subscribe, visit here. Past episodes of The Royal Path can also be found on various streaming services.
