Abp. Elpidophoros Installed as Head of National Council of Churches

Abp. Elpidophoros was officially installed as the new chairman of the NCC during a solemn ceremony in the Holy Cross Chapel, attended by ecumenical leaders, clergy, and representatives from member denominations.
BROOKLINE — On October 14, 2025, Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC) and the Huffington Ecumenical Institute welcomed members of the National Council of Churches (NCC) Governing Board during the organization's 75th anniversary celebration, according to a post on HCHC's Facebook page.
Abp. Elpidophoros of America was officially installed as the new chairman of the NCC, an ecumenist group, during a solemn ceremony in the Holy Cross Chapel. The ceremony was attended by ecumenical leaders, clergy, and representatives from member denominations.
Among those present were Met. Methodius of Boston, HCHC President Demetrios S. Katos, Dean of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology Rev. Dr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, and officials from the Huffington Ecumenical Institute, alongside NCC delegates and guests from various Christian traditions.
Following the ceremony, attendees gathered for a reception at the Maliotis Cultural Center, where reflections on the NCC's 75-year legacy of advocacy, justice, and collaboration were shared in a festive atmosphere. The event underscored the enduring partnership between HCHC and the NCC in fostering ecumenical relations.
