Amb. Guilfoyle Meets with Abp. Ieronymos of Athens
Discussion highlights shared commitment to peace and hopes for strengthened U.S.-Greece relations.
ATHENS — The new U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, paid an official visit to His Beatitude Abp. Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece on Thursday. During their meeting, they discussed the importance of promoting peace and fostering dialogue among nations and peoples, reports Orthodoxia News Agency.
Following the meeting, Guilofyle signed the guestbook of the Holy Archdiocese, expressing her gratitude and spiritual reflection on the encounter.
“Your Beatitude, my heart and soul are filled with the Spirit of Christ, our Lord. I am honored and blessed to share this moment with a man of God that I admire and respect. I look forward to deepening the bond of our relationship and spiritual journey with Christ. To your health and many blessings to you. I will pray for you and the important work you're doing serving our Lord and through your blessed relationship with our country. God bless you always."

According to the Associated Press, Abp. Ieronymos expressed appreciation to Guilfoyle, extending thanks “to the president for the opportunity that he gave us today. May God bless these relations.”
Guilfoyle, in turn, thanked the archbishop “for agreeing to pray for President Trump,” adding that their earlier conversations had left a deep impression on her.
“I just want to tell Your Beatitude I was very touched when I first got the nomination, we were able to speak on the phone, you were the first person that I called and it was just a very special experience,” Guilfoyle said. “It made me feel connected spiritually and supported and blessed by the relationship that I know we will continue going forward together to accomplish great things.”
Previously, UOJ reported that Guilfoyle expressed a desire to learn more about Greek Orthodoxy.
