Met. Nicholas and Synod members gather in New York on feast of St. Innocent.
NEW YORK — The final meeting of the year of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) convened on Tuesday at the Synodal Residence of the First Hierarch in New York, coinciding with the feast of St. Innocent, Bishop of Irkutsk.
Earlier that morning, Met. Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, the First Hierarch of ROCOR, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Sergius Church together with the members of the Synod.
Following the service, the hierarchs proceeded to the meeting hall, where Met. Nicholas opened the session with greetings and a brief report on his recent travels, liturgical celebrations, and upcoming plans.
Afterward, the bishops approved the agenda previously circulated by Bsp. Theodosius of Seattle and began their deliberations.
Previously, UOJ reported that Met. Nicholas celebrated the Feast of the Entry of the Theotokos at ROCOR's Synodal Cathedral.
