2026 National YAL Conference Draws Young Adults to Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH — The 2026 National Young Adult League (YAL) Conference brought together Orthodox Christian young adults from across the United States and Canada for five days of worship, education, service, and fellowship under the theme “Rise and Build: Claim Your Calling.”

Held July 1–5 with the blessing of Abp. Elpidophoros of America, the gathering was hosted by Metr. Savas of Pittsburgh and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh. Participants representing 24 states and Canada took part in workshops, discussions, and leadership training focused on strengthening their faith and discovering ways to serve the Church. The event was supported by Leadership 100, private donors, and sponsors.

The conference included a breakfast with Abp. Elpidophoros, who encouraged young adults to embrace their calling through faith and service, as well as sessions led by clergy, ministry leaders, and professionals. Attendees also joined portions of the 48th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress, connecting with clergy and lay leaders from throughout the Archdiocese.

A major service initiative was the annual Diakonia Project, organized with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and supported by the National Philoptochos Society. Participants assembled 300 IOCC Period Packs for women and girls affected by hardship, displacement, disasters, and conflict, while also preparing supplies for the Norma Herr Women’s Shelter in Cleveland.

The week concluded with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, celebrated by Metr. Savas, Bp. Nektarios of Diokleia, and local clergy. Organizers expressed gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who helped create an event designed to inspire the next generation of Orthodox leaders.
