Holy Trinity Publications to Release St. Theophan the Recluse's Commentary on Romans
A landmark English translation brings St. Theophan’s full commentary on Romans to a new generation of Orthodox readers.
JORDANVILLE, NY — Holy Trinity Publications has announced the forthcoming release of Romans, a complete commentary on the Apostle Paul’s epistle by St. Theophan the Recluse, translated into English in one volume, with scripture and subject indices to facilitate use for preaching, teaching, and academia.
Scheduled for publication on October 6, 2026, the 768-page hardcover volume marks the first in a planned series on the Pauline Epistles. The work presents a verse-by-verse Orthodox interpretation of Romans, drawing extensively from patristic authorities such as St. John Chrysostom and St. Augustine of Hippo, while maintaining a pastoral and devotional tone.
The publisher is offering a 15% pre-publication discount, reducing the hardcover price from $60 to $51 until release day. St. Theophan, known for his extensive biblical commentaries and ascetical writings, devoted his later years to scholarship and spiritual instruction.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a new volume of St. Theophan the Recluse's Lenten Sermons is being released for Great Lent 2026.
