Beginner Photography Workshop to Be Held at Philadelphia Cathedral

PHILADELPHIA — St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Diocesan Cathedral of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania (Orthodox Church in America), will host a beginner photography workshop on Saturday, October 3, at 2 p.m. The course, titled “Building a Photograph: Foundational Photography Mechanics,” will introduce participants to fundamental principles of creating and composing photographs.

The informational workshop will focus on the process of thoughtfully constructing an image, covering such topics as the exposure triangle, basic composition, environmental considerations, and other elements often overlooked by beginners. The course is intended for those seeking to develop a stronger understanding of how photographs are composed and executed.

Participants will not be required to bring a camera. The principles covered during the workshop apply to various forms of photography, including images taken with smartphones, allowing attendees to put the instruction into practice regardless of the equipment they use.

Those interested in attending are asked to register by Sunday, September 27. Registration can be completed by scanning the QR code provided on the event flyer. The workshop will take place at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Philadelphia, which serves as the diocesan cathedral.
