St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Macon marked 30 years of parish life with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the tonsure of two Readers.

MACON, GA — St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Macon celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy led by Bp. Gerasim of Fort Worth on Sunday, October 4. Clergy, parishioners, friends, and guests gathered for the service and to give thanks for the parish’s three decades of ministry.

The parish said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the people who helped establish and sustain the community through the years, including those who built, served, prayed, taught, and worshiped at the church. Fr. Theophan Buck has served as the parish’s rector since 2010.

The celebration also included the tonsure of two altar servers, Timothy Marble and James Andrews, as Readers. The parish expressed its joy for the two newly tonsured Readers and asked God to strengthen them as they continue their service to the Church.

The parish concluded its anniversary observance by offering prayers for many years to Bp. Gerasim, Rdrs. Timothy and James, the clergy, founders, benefactors, and faithful of St. Innocent Orthodox Church. The community also looked toward the coming years with hope as it marked the 30th anniversary of its founding.

Previously, the UOJ reported that the Diocese of the South marked a leadership transition at its 49th Assembly.
