King Abdullah Welcomes Patrs. Daniel and Theophilos in Jordan

AMMAN, JORDAN — King Abdullah II of Jordan received Patr. Daniel of Bulgaria and Patr. Theophilos III of Jerusalem at Al Husseiniya Palace in western Amman during their visit to Jordan.

The two Orthodox primates are accompanying King Abdullah during a peaceful visit connected with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Their meeting highlighted the Jordanian monarch’s stated commitment to protecting the Christian presence in the region.

King Abdullah assured the Patriarchs that Jordan would continue its efforts to safeguard the Christian community and its presence in the Holy Land. The meeting comes as the region continues to draw religious and diplomatic attention to the preservation of Christian communities and holy sites.

During the meeting, King Abdullah also invited Patr. Daniel to participate in Jordan’s planned celebrations in 2030 commemorating the 2,000th anniversary of the baptism of Jesus Christ.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Patr. Daniel backed Patr. Theophilos’ initiative to mediate Ukraine peace.
