Orthodox Family Seeks Help After Devastating House Fire

CONCORD, NH — An Orthodox family in New Hampshire is seeking support after a devastating house fire destroyed their home and left them facing the difficult process of rebuilding their lives. The Newman family, members of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, escaped safely, but most of their possessions were lost or severely damaged.

The May 4 fire reportedly began in the family’s garage and quickly spread throughout the residence of Alex and Melissa Newman because of strong winds and dry conditions. Alex, Melissa, their three children — James, Michael, and Nina — and their two dogs were able to leave the home safely without injury. However, the property was left uninhabitable. The family had lived there for nearly seven years.

With the support of Orthodox Christians in the region, the family is working to replace essential belongings and address the costs associated with recovery. Donations will assist with temporary housing expenses, furniture, household necessities, and repairs or rebuilding efforts.

Alex’s dad, Fr. Constantine, is the priest of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Concord, NH, who encouraged the faithful to offer prayers and assistance. Community members have been invited to help the family as they work toward restoring a safe and stable home. Alex's brother, Fr. Nicholas, teaches at St. Tikhon’s Seminary, and his brother Dimitri is a seminarian at Holy Cross. See the link above for the donations page.
