Relic of St. Herman of Alaska to Visit South Florida

MIAMI, FL — Holy relics of St. Herman of Alaska will be brought to South Florida during the 2026 Episcopate Congress of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, scheduled for Sept. 10–12. The relics will be available for veneration at two Romanian Orthodox parishes in the area.

According to the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, the relic fragment will be brought from the Diocesan Center of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) with the blessing of His Beatitude Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada. The transfer also has the blessing of His Eminence Abp. Nathaniel, head of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate.

The faithful will have the opportunity to venerate the relics at Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Parish in Miramar and Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Parish in Hollywood. The episcopate invited the faithful to participate in prayer and seek the intercessions of St. Herman, an 18th-century Russian missionary who served among the indigenous peoples of Alaska and is commemorated as a missionary and wonderworker.

The visit will take place as part of the episcopate’s 2026 congress, bringing the relics of one of North America’s best-known Orthodox saints to two South Florida communities.
