Thousands of Pilgrims Join Procession to Monastery in Siltse

SILTSE, UKRAINE — About 1,000 pilgrims joined a traditional procession to the Holy John of the Lord Men’s Monastery in Siltse on September 27, on the eve of the prayerful veneration of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Look upon Humility.”

The annual pilgrimage was held with the blessing of Metr. Feodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod. Pilgrims walked to the monastery in prayer, glorifying the Most Holy Theotokos and asking for her maternal intercession and prayers before the Lord.

According to the Mukachevo Orthodox Eparchy, the faithful also offered special prayers for peace in Ukraine, for the country’s defenders and Armed Forces, and for the strengthening and preservation of the lives of those defending the state.

The pilgrims were welcomed at the monastery by the brotherhood led by Archimandrite Luka (Tomishynets). A festive archiepiscopal Divine Liturgy was scheduled for September 29, the feast associated with the prayerful veneration of the miraculous icon.
