Western Rite Orthodox Gather in Denver for Biennial Conference

DENVER — Bp. John of Worcester and New England presided over the biennial conference of the Antiochian Western Rite Vicariate from Aug. 3-7, bringing together clergy and faithful for several days of worship, discussion, and practical presentations centered on the theme “Sacred Art & Sacred Space.”

The conference was hosted by three Western Rite parishes in the Denver area. More than half of the Western Rite parishes in the Antiochian Archdiocese were represented, along with participants from Eastern Rite parishes belonging to various Orthodox jurisdictions.

Participants gathered daily for services accompanied by a conference choir. The program also included twice-daily presentations addressing subjects related to church life, sacred art, history, liturgy, and parish ministry.

The conference provided an opportunity for Western Rite clergy to meet with Bp. John, the auxiliary bishop responsible for the Western Rite, to discuss their parishes and various pastoral and administrative matters.

At the conclusion of the gathering, Bp. John expressed appreciation for the hospitality shown by the Denver Orthodox community. He gave particular thanks to the clergy and parishioners who organized the conference and helped provide a setting for worship, fellowship, and discussion.
